Friday Club Ride: Peter, Philip, Andrew, & Tristan

This week's ride was a fast sprint to Fremont. The ride began after adjusting gears and pumping tires, then we headed over by Tristan's house to meet up and bike to Fremont. After five minutes of warm-up, our group of four set up a rotating paceline. In the rotating paceline, we picked up each other's draft by staying low and right on the wheel in front. The group then alternated for the position of lead cyclist.

To get to Fremont, we took Piedmont Road, made a left on Scott Creek Road, then rode on Kato to align with the 880 traffic. Heading towards Fremont, we had a weak headwind which slowed us down a bit. But on the return section (Kato), it was to our advantage and we hit around 25 mph flat for 3 minutes. Our max speed was 35 mph and the average around 17-18 mph. And don't forget, Tristan was on a mountain bike and Philip didn't even have shoes for his SpeedPlay pedals. So taking that into consideration, we went fast. Overall it was a great ride with great weather, and I'm really looking forward to the Jamba Juice ride next week! Ride stats can be found below. - Andrew
